The bundle includes both the Strengths & Needs deck and the Strategy deck, taking you from understanding a child's experience to identifying practical ways to help.
How they work?
Children sort the Strengths & Needs deck according to which statements into categories Like Me / Sometimes Like Me/ Not Like Me. This helps to open up conversations about what they enjoy, where their strengths lie and the aspects of school they may find difficult.
The Strategy deck cards are sorted into Helpful / Sometimes Helpful / Not Helpful, allowing the child to identify the types of support they think would help.
Together the cards can help you:
uncover views that can be difficult to express through conversation alone
identify strengths as well as barriers to learning, participation and wellbeing
understand school from the child's perspective
explore practical strategies and adjustments
give children a meaningful voice in decisions about their support
turn conversations into clear next steps
Who are they for?
Designed for children approximately 5-12 years, the cards are used by families, SENCOs, teachers, Psychologists and other professionals.
At home, they can help you understand your child's experience and prepare for conversations or meetings with school. In professional settings, they provide a structured way to gather pupil views and can contribute to SEN support, Assess-Plan-Do-Review, EHCP assessments and reviews, transition planning and wider inclusion work.
